We won two awards!
The Mind Excellence Award for Strategy
Dorset Mind is one of over 100 local Minds that covers England and Wales. Although part of the Mind family, we remain an independent charity, responsible for our funding and the support we offer.
Each year, Mind recognises the good work that’s done to help support people across the network.
This year, we were delighted to win an award for our new Strategy, that CEO Linda O’Sullivan and our team have worked hard to develop and implement. We had a different approach – that involved everyone in the charity, from Trustees to volunteers, getting involved with reshaping our culture.
Mind recognised this:
Tearing up the book of how something is traditionally done can transform the end product far beyond what may have been anticipated at the outset. The CEO is highly commended for having the courage and vision to challenge the status quo, and to take colleagues from all levels within the organisation on a different journey.

The Bournemouth Business Awards
Dorset Mind was named Joint Winner in the ‘Best Place to Work’ category recently at the Bournemouth Business Awards. We won alongside Tru Talent Recruitment Agency, based in Westbourne.
Our application focused on the support that we have in place for our staff. This includes including regular check-ins, reflective practice and Continual Personal Development. When we have charity-wide learning days we aim to bring holistic practises as a valued part of our sessions. Thorough support is needed in mental health to ensure our staff’s wellbeing is looked after in order for them to do their frontline jobs with compassion and empathy. Investing in them continues with a Wellbeing Day, which we introduced this year, and time off at Christmas – when we all need a break.
Massive congratulations to all involved – and a big thank you to Nigel at Marketing West for his continued support and MJP Mortgages who sponsored the award.
