It’s brilliant that you’ve chosen to fundraise for Dorset Mind!

Every year we help over 22,000 people in Dorset with their mental health by providing a range of vital support services for adults and young people. Rest assured, your donation will stay within Dorset to benefit local people who need help with their mental health challenges.

But you don’t have to take part in a scheduled event to raise money for Dorset Mind – you can organise your own…

There are so many ways to fundraise. Whether you want to organise a cake bake or raffle, run a marathon, take part in a Charity Boxing Challenges or stage a musical event – we will support you all the way – and make it as fun and easy as possible.

The best thing is that together we can also help raise awareness at the same time – let’s do as much as possible to normalise the conversation around mental health.

How to fundraise for Dorset Mind

The first step is to get in touch with us. We understand that fundraising can sometimes feel a little daunting.

To help take the pressure off, we’ve put together a few guidelines and ideas to help inspire your fundraising journey.

We’ve plenty of experience when it comes to staging or taking part in fundraising events.

Let us share this with you to help make your event as successful as possible.

Whatever way you choose to raise donations, we can support you in a number of ways –

  • Provide friendly support and advice to help create your event
  • Help you set up an online fundraising page
  • Supply promotional items for your event – such as leaflets, collection tins and buckets.
  • Provide a Dorset Mind t-shirt/ performance t-shirt to wear for your event
  • Social media and online support – we’d feature your event here on our website and share your posts across our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to help promote your event.

Your fundraising will have a positive effect that lasts way beyond your event. Here are some examples of the types of support your money could help fund:

could pay for refreshments for our monthly wellbeing support group

could pay for 10 information books to help raise mental health awareness

could pay for 1 school assembly that will explore what is meant by mental health, wellbeing and resilience – reaching approximately 200 young people

could pay for 2,000 flyers that promote our support groups and services across Dorset

could pay for 1 PSGE lesson in school to educate 30 students in modules like emotional awareness, peer support and self-esteem

could pay for 8 counselling sessions for one young person or adult (one person will attend a course of 6-8 sessions)

could pay for a shed to keep tools and equipment secure for our ecotherapy wellbeing group

could pay to train, manage and support a volunteer for one year

could pay to train, manage and support a volunteer befriender for twelve months

£5,000

could pay for a weekly adult wellbeing support group for up to 15 people for one year

could pay for a whole-school programme for 1 year (depending on required support options), educating up to 2,500 young people, parents and teachers

could pay for a social prescription ecotherapy group for one year
