Mentoring Minds Service

The Mentoring Minds service is tailored support offered by Dorset Mind. This funded service is delivered to members of the BCP community who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health and/or have emotional wellbeing concern.

Our trained volunteers work alongside the participants to help build confidence, self- esteem, self- efficacy and resilience through implementing “The 5 Ways to Wellbeing” model and goal setting on a regular basis.

The aim of the Dorset Mind Mentoring Minds service is to improve the quality of life for our participants, help them to recognise their wellbeing needs and to be able to utilise the skills and tools learnt in day-to-day life.

Importantly, this is NOT a counselling service, parallel or replacement service for participants who are still experiencing psychotic episodes, or addiction. Mentoring Minds is a goal setting service for your client to engage with and help them reconnect with their wider community.

If they have struggled with addiction, have they been abstinent for 3 months or more?
Has the participant been stable for a minimum of 6 months following a psychotic episode?
Have not attempted suicide within the last six months.
Has no current suicide ideation or plans to harm themselves.
Is this person able to engage with guided self-help, small goal setting and be able to work towards them?
Are they located in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area?
