Dr Andrew Mayers is Principal Academic at Bournemouth University, where he specialises in mental health. He is particularly known for his campaigning work for perinatal mental health (such as postnatal depression). He features in local, national and international media about improving mental health for mother and fathers. He sits on several national advisory boards for perinatal mental health, notably for NHS England.
Dr Mayers is also an active mental health campaigner, pressing for better services and tackling stigma and discrimination. He is frequently invited to Parliament as part of those campaigns. Using his extensive local and national contacts in mental health, as Dorset Mind’s Patron, Dr Mayers helps to raise the profile of the charity and support the work that is done across Dorset.
