Charles leads Aon’s UK Wellbeing Solutions team of experts who advise employers on people health risk. During his 20-year career in the Health, Risk and Wellbeing industry he has worked with many diverse organisations helping them to achieve their employee wellbeing and benefits aspirations. Drawing on his lived experience of mental health issues, Charles is a positive advocate for the role the workplace can play to protect and enhance employee mental health and wellbeing. Charles is a qualified Mental Health First Aider and holds an MSc in Workplace Health and Wellbeing from the University of Nottingham. Reflecting his interest in mental health, Charles’ research project was on Factors that Facilitate Mental Health Disclosure in the Workplace.
Charles is actively involved in his firm’s Diversity & Inclusion agenda as a sponsor and ally. He’s also a member of the firm’s WorkAbility Committee. He helps support colleagues’ wellbeing through initiatives such as the Home Working Health, Safety & Wellbeing Committee and being an active Mental Health First Aider. Charles represents Aon at the Alliance Manchester Business School’s National Forum for Health and Wellbeing at Work. He formerly chaired Aon’s Mental Health Group, was a member of the firm’s Diversity Council and represented Aon on The Lord Mayor of the City of London’s ‘This is Me’ Steering Group.
In addition to Charles’ work at Aon and with Dorset Mind, he has held Board positions at Mind in Kingston, the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) and Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM).
