Finding Confidence Again: A Connected Minds Story

When Liam first joined our Connected Minds programme, school felt like an impossible place. Every morning came with a wave of anxiety – worrying about fitting in, facing lessons, and managing big emotions that often felt too heavy to handle.
In those early weeks, Liam was quiet and uncertain, often hanging back during group discussions. But little by little, things began to change. Through fun, creative activities that explored emotions, friendships, and ways to stay calm, he began to open up.
He discovered the breathing exercises helped him feel more in control when his thoughts started to race. He learned how to see things from other people’s perspectives and started building friendships – friendships that gave him the confidence to speak and smile more freely.
By the end of the eight sessions, Liam was attending school more happily and felt more comfortable being himself around others. His parent noticed the change too, sharing:
They seem more confident in themself and happier in school.
Liam’s story is just one example of how Connected Minds helps young people who are struggling with school life or their mental wellbeing. It’s a safe and supportive space that helps them feel understood, develop coping tools, and take the first steps toward a healthier and happier future.
Your support helps young people like Liam rediscover hope.
Every donation to Dorset Mind helps us reach more children who are struggling with anxiety, loneliness, or low confidence, giving them the space, tools, and support to feel understood, valued, and ready to thrive again.

Dorset Tea and Dorset Mind: Brewing Conversations for Better Mental Health
Dorset Tea is proud to partner with Dorset Mind to help spark open and honest conversations about mental health across our county.
In early 2025, Dorset Tea donated £5,000 to support our vital services and has been generously providing tea for our fundraising events and wellbeing initiatives.
As part of this ongoing partnership, Dorset Tea is sponsoring the launch of the Weymouth Chatty Bench – a welcoming space designed to encourage open conversations about mental health in the community.
Together, Dorset Tea and Dorset Mind are promoting the simple but powerful idea that sharing a cup of tea can provide comfort, connection, and the confidence to open up – supporting Dorset Mind’s mission to ensure mental health conversations are accepted and accessible for everyone.
By combining the simple comfort of a cup of tea with an inviting space to talk, we hope we can make it easier for communities to start conversations about mental health, one cup at a time.
