We’d like to say a ‘HUGE thank you’ to David Upshall, senior partner of David Upshall Insurance Services, Dorchester.
At the recent Kingston Maurward appeal launch, as reported here, a considerable amount was raised.
The campaign will help us fund the expansion of our mental health services to West Dorset, starting with Dorchester.
This happened largely due to David’s local influence. He invited Dorchester’s Mayor Councillor Susie Hosford, local business people and key members of the community to attend the event at Kingston Maurward College.
Even some of those who could not attend the launch contributed, see below…
Thank you to everyone who donated to our appeal…
David presented Dorset Mind’s Patron Dr Andy Mayers, with a sizeable donation of £1,000
to start the fundraising. Not only this, David funded the launch itself and organised the event invites along with Nigel Reeve, Director of Marketing West
We consider ourselves very blessed to work with David and Nigel
. Our plans have been in progress for a number of months. They’ve developed due to the enthusiasm and generosity
of both David and Nigel.
We’d also like to acknowledge support from Anita and Tim Harries
, former Mayor and Mayoress of Dorchester. Anita is very passionate about mental health
, having lived experience herself. As described in our press release, Anita delivered a poignant speech about her battle with depression
. We know that took immense courage and braveness
– there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. We are delighted to announce that Anita will work with us to help establish our new support services.
Sir Philip Williams
couldn’t be with us on the night, but gave a brilliant donation of £1,000
to our appeal. As former High Sheriff of Dorset, Sir Philip has the ability to bring together a wide range of people within the community. This is certainly reflected by this deed.
We’d also like to thank AE Knott who sent a donation of £20 on the night, along with everyone who donated £110.40 via our collection buckets.
