Ruth is an Adult Befriender with Dorset Mind. She lives in rural North Dorset with her family and is training to become a Psychotherapist.
Ruth says, “I love my befreinding role with Dorset Mind, and through my volunteering I have met people who I greatly value and respect. Sometimes they are having a tough time and I am glad that Dorset Mind volunteers like myself can be there for others, extending the hand of kindness through our time and our care. As well as sharing the difficult things befriending is also about celebrating successes, strengths and joy. There is always room for laughter and gratitude in our meetings. Much of the time we can work together with befriendees on the “5 Ways to Wellbeing” and the experience of sharing someone’s journey to better wellbeing is a great privilege.”
