I come from Cheshire but now live in Bournemouth while I study Psychology at Bournemouth University.
I enjoy Psychology and have an interest in Young People’s Mental Health having experienced Mental Health problems when I was younger. At a very difficult moment in my childhood I felt that I had no-one to turn to for support or to talk to. At that time I felt very alone and this helped me realise that I would like to help others, through raising awareness of Mental Health problems and helping them realise that they are not alone.
Volunteering as a Young Ambassador for Dorset Mind is the opportunity for me to be involved in different ways to fund raise and increase the understanding of Mental Health problems and where to get support and advice. I enjoy helping other people; volunteering might not sound like a ‘hobby’ but knowing I am helping others who need support with their Mental Health makes me happy and gives me a sense of satisfaction.
Outside my studies and volunteering I also enjoy cooking and going on adventures, socialising and going to the gym. Going to the gym helps me to feel good and I have realised the importance of this both physically and emotionally. It is important for me to take time to relax and ensure that I don’t take on too much.
