Cathy is one of our Active Monitoring Practitioners. She joined us in January 2020 and helps facilitate our Active Monitoring programme that runs in partnership with Shore Medical. Cathy is responsible for working with clients struggling with mild to moderate anxiety, depression, stress, isolation, self-esteem, anger and grief and loss.
Mental health support is Cathy’s 3rd career. She spent 10 years in financial services and 12 years in recruitment before looking to get a bit more reward from her work life.
Cathy is a qualified counsellor with experience in supporting people experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship issues, depression, bereavement and loss. She is a specialist in bereavement work having volunteered for Cruse Bereavement Care for 18 months alongside experiencing significant complex losses in her personal life.
At Dorset Mind you’ll find Cathy based at Wessex Road Surgery. She works with Talya to provide CBT self-directed short-term support to patients across 6 local surgeries. She finds the work rewarding through the diverse range of people she supports and the complexities of mental health encountered. Cathy is always learning and her motto is ‘any small change we can make to support someone is a change worth supporting’.
