Trustee – Children and Young People

Dorset Mind are seeking a Trustee who has a background or interest in Children and Young People’s mental health.

In order to deliver Dorset Mind’s 5-Year Strategy, our Board of Trustees constantly reflect on the range and extent of the skills and experience of its constituent members. From time to time we recruit Trustees with a particular interest, career history, qualification or skill set.

At this time, the Board is seeking someone who will provide expertise and leadership to Dorset Mind’s portfolio of work designed for the benefit of children and young people.

You will:

  • Have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the field of young people’s mental health
  • Be able to attend or contribute to organisational meetings in addition to monthly Board meetings.
  • An extensive knowledge of safeguarding children and young people
  • Preferably have operated at a Trustee or senior level in a similar setting before

We welcome applicants who have lived experience of mental health difficulty.

Dorset Mind’s young people programme ‘Dorset Mind Your Head’ is a diverse programme of education and support for young people and is growing significantly. You will need to share our vision for Dorset Mind Your Head and our organisational Values.  In addition, you will want to effect real change amongst the upcoming generations of young people in Dorset.

Application Form

You will be required to attend an informal meeting with the Chair of Trustees before a formal interview with two Trustees.

Before official appointment you will attend three Trustee meetings and a subsequent meeting with the Chair of Trustees. Trustees are re-appointed every three years at the Charity’s AGM which is usually held in December.
