Children and Young People Counsellor- Sessional

Dorset Mind are looking for a sessional counsellor, to join our Dorset Mind Your Head Team (DMYH). The role will be on a sessional contract to provide counselling in Dorchester and surrounding area.  You must be a member of BACP, or similar recognised professional body, and hold a recognised Level 5 or equivalent, Children and Young People Counselling qualification and proven experience of delivering counselling to children and young people ( 11 to 17). Our clients present with a range of  issues affecting mental health and wellbeing.

The  role includes providing counselling for a minimum of three hours a week, in person, face to face, with availability between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. In addition, the successful candidate may work with the young person in their school or if appropriate, provide, remote counselling via Teams or Zoom.

The ideal candidate will need to be proficient with IT and be competent to work using our on-line platform. The system is used to record counselling session attendance and provide various monitoring reports, including the use of YP Core. In addition, you will need to maintain up to date notes and facilitate evaluations. Full training will be given.

 The focus of the team is a shared passion, advocating positive mental health, through counselling to support young people, with an emphasis on the development of tools, skills and experiences to support the young person, as they move forward.

Induction and on-going training will be given so that you have a thorough understanding of Dorset Mind’s policies and procedures. Mandatory training includes: safeguarding, GDPR, equality and diversity and suicide awareness training.
