Have you ever wanted to try running but have never taken the first step to give it a go?

Do you feel like you lack confidence to join a group and get into running?

If you’re looking for a way to improve physical and mental health by being active whilst spending time outside connecting with others, the NEW ASICS Get Active Beginner’s Running Group is here for you!

Dorset Mind are excited to be offering a 12-week running programme for beginners. We’re grateful to ASICS for their generous funding. It enables us to deliver this programme and allow community members to try something new. In addition, they will get active and improve their wellbeing through running.

Being active and taking part in exercise can really help to reduce stress levels. It can also increase your confidence and provide a sense of achievement. When we are active, this influences how we are feeling and can improve our mood and make us feel more positive.

Why get active?

Running is an effective way to experience the benefits being active and exercising can have on our physical and mental health. Not only will running help to improve physical health and fitness levels, but it is an activity used by many to keep mentally healthy. Just being outside in the open air to focus on something else can help to clear the mind, reset and disengage from the stresses we experienced in our day to day lives.

Don’t worry if you are completely new to running and have never done it before… This group is for beginners and you will be supported every step of the way by qualified leaders as you embark on your running journey.

Also, as an added extra from ASICS, we are pleased to announce that on week 6 of the programme, participants will be offered a voucher of up to £140 to use on ASICS products from Runners Need! If that wasn’t enough, participants will also be able to obtain a subscription to the RunKeeperGo App!

Details of Beginners Running Group

When: The programme will start on Monday 10th January 2022 then each Monday until 28th March 2022

Number of sessions: 12 week course

Time: 10am

Where: Poole Park in Poole, Dorset

How to access the running group:

You can self-refer to the group, but places are limited and MUST be booked in advance.
