Changes to support during the Covid-19 outbreak

Please note, this service is delivered online.

We recognise that with so many people experiencing uncertain times, isolation, loss of income and contact with friends and family, we have a key role to play in helping them manage their mental health and wellbeing. We are doing everything we can to design new services to help as many people as we can.

If you need urgent or crisis support with your mental health, please follow this link.

What is Mind Field?

Mind Field is a 7-week online course, designed to help get people back to work. It starts on 6th January, 2022.

It has two specific aims:

  • to help people improve their mental wellbeing
  • to help gain the confidence to return to employment.

How does the programme work?

Mind Field is a series of weekly sessions over a seven-week period. It comprises online workshops and mentoring to gain employability skills alongside mental health support.

Six sessions of counselling are also available if required – and you can join other Dorset Mind services, that you can view here.

Topics covered include: CV writing, job searching, applications, interview techniques, coping with anxiety, building confidence, self-esteem and wellbeing strategies.

Who can access Mind Field?

Anyone currently not in employment living in Dorset who is 18+ and experiencing mental wellbeing challenges.

Feedback from previous courses:

“When I first joined I was really nervous and I didn’t want to talk, just listen because I felt really uncomfortable. Over time I managed to talk a tiny bit and developed confidence to speak up. I felt supported in the group which helped me.”

Mind Field Client, October 2021.

“It teaches you stuff that you don’t really know. If you have been keeping your anxiety inside for a long time it starts to get very uncontrollable and knowing some techniques, even if it helps a little, is enough to help get control of it and the support is out there.”

Mind Field Client, October 2021.

“I have been able to redo my CV and make me feel more job ready after a successful practise interview with JP Morgan. I would recommend this course to others to build confidence, self esteem and feel more job ready. “
