Your Challenge, Your Way!

Do you want to raise money for Dorset Mind while challenging yourself? The Ultra Challenge series lets you do just that!

Over 20,000 people will take part in an Ultra Challenge event this year – will you be one of them?

With a range of ages, fitness levels and experience, anyone has the ability to compete in one of the many Ultra Challenges available. Along the way you will meet new friends that share your appetite for adventure.

So far, the Series has helped to raise over £20 million for UK charities! You have the opportunity to raise money for us and have a positive impact on local people’s lives.

How can I take part?

There are many different challenges to take part in across England. Here is a list of the upcoming challenges for you to choose from:

2nd / 3rd May 2020 – Isle of Wight Challenge

(106km, 53km or 26.5km distances)

Walk, Jog or Run one of the most visually spectacular challenge along the Isle of Wight’s coastal path. Take part in this breath-taking challenge with 2,000 other adventurers.

You’ll run along the southern cliffs, past the iconic Needles and up to historic Cowes for the half way stop (53km). For full island challengers it’s on to historic Ventnor, and back to our welcome Base Camp in Chale after an epic 106km journey! This challenge is for all levels of experience with the half and quarter island options.

16th / 17th May 2020 – The Jurassic Coast Challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

Walk, Jog or Run one of the toughest events in the Ultra Challenges. The Jurassic Coast Challenge is on Dorset’s doorstep with a 2,600m climb across the full 100km – an epic undertaking. Those who take it on will be rewarded by brilliant views  of our coastline and a route that’s simply stunning.

Setting out from Poole Harbour, you will board the Sandbanks Ferry, across to Studland.  You’ll then head up towards Corfe Castle, where the 1st Quarter Challenge ends. Those on the Half will be tackling the ups & downs of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, en route to Weymouth at 58km. The full Challenge continues along the coastline to the far end of Chesil Beach, down into West Bay with its famous sandstone cliffs. You’ll reach the welcome finish line at Bridport where a celebration awaits.

23rd / 24th May 2020 – The London 2 Brighton Challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

The London 2 Brighton Challenge will be in its 9th year in 2020! Over 2,500 adventurers of all experience levels and ages will take on this classic route from Capital to Coast, testing their grit and determination – and all aiming to push themselves further. Most will walk, but many will Run or Jog the full 100km – and from the Richmond start it’s over the North and South Downs before the welcome Brighton coastline comes into view, with full support and hospitality all the way to the your finish line.

Whether you’re a walker and new to endurance events, or even a marathon runner looking to ‘up’ the distance – you’ll get the best support and hospitality through day and night. The Full 100km, with almost 1,500 metres of climb, can be done as a continuous Challenge – or as a ‘Daylight 2 Day’ option with camping at halfway. There’s also Half and Quarter distance options available – so there’s a Challenge here for everyone!

13th / 14th June 2020 – Lake District Challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

New for 2020 – join the Lake District Challenge and take on England’s finest countryside at your pace. Our Challenge Base Camp is in Kendal. From there it’s a 100km anticlockwise loop taking in a couple of tough hills, Ambleside, a half way point by Lake Windermere, forests, and nature reserves – with some stunning views enroute – before a huge welcome and celebration back at Base Camp after a momentous journey. As an individual or as a team it’s a great way to do get fit, set a new goal, and to fundraise fora charity that’s special for you if you want to. We’ll be with you every step of the way – from kit advice, optional training walks, to moral support and great hospitality on the day.

27th / 28th June 2020 – Cotswold Way Challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

The Cotswold Way provides a stunning setting for this testing challenge – with fantastic views enroute and some tough hills in between! It’s a Saturday morning start from historic Bath’s Royal Crescent, and ahead lies 100km of footpaths and trails with full support all the way before the welcome Cheltenham finish line. As an individual or as a team it’s a great way to do get fit, set a new goal, and to fundraise for a charity that’s special for you if you want to. We’ll be with you every step of the way – from kit advice, optional training walks, to moral support and great hospitality on the day.

25th / 26th July 2020 – South West Coast 2 Coast challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

A new ‘Coast to Coast’ Challenge for 2020 – across England’s South West Peninsular. It’s 102km from Minehead in Somerset on the south bank of the Bristol Channel, down to seaside Dawlish on the southern coast of Devon, with some ups & downs of Exmoor and the meandering Exe Valley in between. Take on the Challenge at your pace with a huge celebration at the finish line after an amazing journey. With half and ‘quarter’ distance options also – there’s a South West Challenge for all! As an individual or as a team it’s a great way to get fit, set a new goal, and to fundraise for a charity that’s special for you if you want to. We’ll be with you every step of the way – from kit advice, optional training walks, to moral support and great hospitality on the day

29th / 30th august 2020 – South Coast challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

Take on some of England’s finest scenery – up the stunning Beachy Head, over the magnificent Seven Sisters, and along the South Downs way to a Brighton mid-point, Devil’s Dyke. Breathtaking views, ups & downs all lie ahead before historic Arundel comes into view after an amazing journey you’ll never forget. As an individual or as a team it’s a great way to do get fit, set a new goal, and to fundraise for a charity that’s special for you if you want to. We’ll be with you every step of the way – from kit advice, optional training walks, to moral support and great hospitality on the day.
