Your Challenge, Your Way!

Do you want to raise money for Dorset Mind while challenging yourself? The Ultra Challenge series lets you do just that!

Over 20,000 people will take part in an Ultra Challenge event this year – will you be one of them?

With a range of ages, fitness levels and experience, anyone has the ability to compete in one of the many Ultra Challenges available. Along the way you will meet new friends that share your appetite for adventure.

So far, the Series has helped to raise over £20 million for UK charities! You have the opportunity to raise money for us and have a positive impact on local people’s lives.

How can I take part?

There are many different challenges to take part in across England. Here is a list of the upcoming challenges for you to choose from:

31st Aug / 1st Sept – South Coast Challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

Walk, Jog or Run on some of England’s finest scenery! As part of this challenge you will start at Eastbourne, go up Beachy Head and over the stunning Seven Sisters. You’ll then move along the famous South Downs Way National Trail with breathtaking views over the sea to Brighton.

With the full, half and quarter distance options, there’s a challenge for everyone!

7th/8th September – Thames Path Challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

Walk, Jog or Run along England’s greatest and most famous river! The Thames Path Challenge will take you from Putney Bridge past Hampton Court to Runnymede of Magna Carta fame at 50km. You’ll then go past some wonderful scenery that’s steeped in history all the way to Henley.

With the full, half and quarter distance options there’s a challenge for everyone!

28th September – North Downs 50 Challenge

(50km distance only)

Walk, Jog or Run the ‘end of season challenge’ along the North Downs. From Farnham to Reigate you will experience the beautiful Surrey countryside. You’ll take in the outstanding natural beauty with a climb up Box Hill and fantastic views to the south.

Complete this challenge with 1,500 others with an option for a 24km 2nd half. Then celebrate with Saturday evening entertainment, festival style celebrations and have the additional option of camping at the finish!

2nd / 3rd May 2020 – Isle of Wight Challenge

(106km, 53km or 26.5km distances)

Walk, Jog or Run one of the most visually spectacular challenge along the Isle of Wight’s coastal path. Take part in this breath-taking challenge with 2,000 other adventurers.

You’ll run along the southern cliffs, past the iconic Needles and up to historic Cowes for the half way stop (53km). For full island challengers it’s on to historic Ventnor, and back to our welcome Base Camp in Chale after an epic 106km journey! This challenge is for all levels of experience with the half and quarter island options.

16th / 17th May 2020 – The Jurassic Coast Challenge

(100km, 50km or 25km distances)

Walk, Jog or Run one of the toughest events in the Ultra Challenges. The Jurassic Coast Challenge is on Dorset’s doorstep with a 2,600m climb across the full 100km – an epic undertaking. Those who take it on will be rewarded by brilliant views  of our coastline and a route that’s simply stunning.

Setting out from Poole Harbour, you will board the Sandbanks Ferry, across to Studland.  You’ll then head up towards Corfe Castle, where the 1st Quarter Challenge ends. Those on the Half will be tackling the ups & downs of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, en route to Weymouth at 58km. The full Challenge continues along the coastline to the far end of Chesil Beach, down into West Bay with its famous sandstone cliffs. You’ll reach the welcome finish line at Bridport where a celebration awaits.
