Upcoming World Mental Health Day Events!

World Mental Health Day is on 10th October this year – next Monday.  And to mark this important date in our calendar we are going to be very busy taking part in many events…

Programme of events:

8th – 9th October – Tesco’s Bucket Collection Dorset Mind staff and lovely volunteers will be at Tesco, Branksome (Poole) this weekend to kick off fundraising – come and say hi, pop a donation in our bucket – and find out more about what services we offer across Dorset! 10th October – ‘Coffee and Cake’ at Rick Stein Sandbanks **SOLD OUT** World Mental Health Day (WMHD) heralds an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world.  Our aim is to get people talking about mental health and remove the stigma associated with it. And what better way to celebrate World Mental Health Day than from the exclusive setting of Rick Stein Sandbanks overlooking Poole Harbour. Two of Dorset Mind’s young ambassadors will give speeches about their very different experiences of mental health.  Those lucky to go will also be served ‘Coffee and Cake’.  See here for further details. 11th October – Bournemouth University Seminar Meeting Mental Health Challenges in the Community’ – Dorset Mind’s CEO Chris Price, and Patron Dr Andy Mayers, will speak about the work Dorset Mind does.  They will also cover who we help and the organisations we work with.  See here for more details. 11th October – Asda Bucket Collection The second bucket collection this week is due to take part at ASDA, Castlepoint all day on Tuesday.  Again, we will be looking to raise funds and spread awareness of the support services and training we provide in Dorset. 13th October – Bournemouth University Seminar

‘Mental Health and LGBT’ Our second seminar this week features a talk by Dorset Mind’s Service Delivery Manager Mandy Nicholson.  Mandy and Chris Price will look at Dorset Mind’s work supporting LGBTI people through our MindOut support group.  Mandy and Chris will also talk about the new LGBTI Wellbeing in Mind courses developed with Skills and Learning.

So, it seems we are going to be VERY occupied next week!  Do come along to help raise awareness of mental health problems, and the steps we are taking to help people in Dorset.]]>
