Easter comes early – presented by The Dorchester Lions

Dorchester Lions Cheque presentationEaster came early for Dorset Mind last week! Rick Rogers, President of The Dorchester & District Lions Club presented Dorset Mind with a cheque for £1,000.  The money was raised at their annual ‘Fun Swim’ held at 1610 Dorchester Sports Centre in January.

The benefits of exercise

The sponsored swim and open day was a joint effort between the Lions and 1610.  It had two objectives: not only to raise money for Dorset Mind, but to also promote exercise and the benefits it has for everyone’s health and wellbeing.

The donation presented by the Lions…

Vice-President of the Lions, Andy Rose, commented at the presentation, “During The Lions’ Centennial year we felt it was a good time to get behind Dorset Mind to increase awareness of mental health problems. We realise how much mental health issues affect families directly and indirectly. It’s good for us as a community organisation to support local people by helping to raise awareness.”

And we can assure the Lions that the money raised will go towards supporting people in Dorset with mental health problems – and for that we are HUGELY grateful.
