To kick of MHAW18, Bournemouth University and SWR Inclusion and Diversity Team and hosting a Mental Health Awareness Day. After the success of the same event in 2017, they wanted to hold it again in 2018.
Mental Health Awareness Day
This event is being held on Monday 14th May from 8am-3pm at Bournemouth Station. The day is going to bring together a number of community charities to help spread Mental Health Awareness.
The theme this year for Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘Stress, Are we coping?‘. This is to encourage us all to take some time out and de-stress throughout life. At this event, we hope to be able to offer commuters advice or point them in the direction of help.
It will give all the charities, such as ourselves, the opportunity to help raise awareness and share the support available locally. We’ll be promoting our support groups, befriending services and training courses.
The other charities involved in this event are: Bournemouth Parks Foundation, Dorset Rape Crisis, Dorset Healthcare, FaceForward, Natural Choices, Samaritans, HealthWatch Dorset, MyTime Charity, Public Health Dorset, Dorset Local Nature Partnership, DorPIP.
