Youth National Citizen Service Volunteering/Social Action Fayre
The National Citizen Service scheme is a voluntary youth engagement and personal development programme for 15 – 17 year-olds throughout England.
This summer there are over 350 young people from across Dorset completing the scheme with BCHA. Bournemouth-based charity BCHA helps homeless and vulnerable people access the right housing, health, learning and work opportunities. It is also the largest provider of NCS schemes in the area.
BCHA are looking for Social Action Projects that groups of 15 young people can undertake together. Over the course of a week this could be painting a community centre, designing a community garden, conservation, or fundraising.
Youth Volunteer Opportunities
The aim of the Fayre is to introduce young people to the wide range of volunteering opportunities that are available to them after they finish the NCS scheme.
“Last year, over 220 young people participated and they completed over 6600 volunteering hours in the local Community raising over £7000 through fundraising on their Social Action.
The Social Action Project element of the NCS Programme allows Young People to feel connected and proud of making positive differences in the local Communities.”
Dorset Mind are attending the fayre at Citygate Church. We will be promoting our mental health services, and in particular our Youth Service appeal. We also offer voluntary internships at our head office in Bournemouth.
